2022 Annual Awards Dinner

On May 7, 2022 the Omega Omega Chapter-OMICRON KAPPA UPSILON, the National Dental Honor Society, held its Annual Awards Dinner at the Montclair Golf Club in West Orange, NJ.

New members were inducted and chapter president, Dr. George Schmidt, presented awards. Ms. Irene Kontogiannis (’23) was this year’s recipient of a $10,000 scholarship from the OKU-Omega Omega Scholarship Foundation and the recipient of the Supreme Chapter’s “Dr. William S. Kramer Award of Excellence”.

A “Certificate of Academic Excellence” was presented to Mr. George Soliman (’24).

Mr. Ayodeji Awopegba (’22) was presented with the “Dr. Anthony R. Volpe Excellence in Research Award” for his demonstration of outstanding research activity in the dental or biomedical science fields as a pre-doctoral dental student.

Dr. Thomas M. Scorziello was recognized with faculty membership for outstanding contributions to the arts, science or literature of dentistry.

Drs. Mary Thersea Mancuso (’91), Sonia Giordano(’03) and Kim Fenesy(’86) were recognized for their individual contributions of $1,000 to the OKU-Omega Omega Scholarship Foundation during the preceeding fiscal year.

As no awards ceremonies were held in 2020 and 2021, OKU alumni members from the Classes of 2020 and 2021 were invited to attend this year’s dinner so they could be recognized and congratulated.

The recipients of the “Dr. William S. Kramer Award of Excellence” in 2020 and 2021 were also invited to attend.

Mr. Marko Djapic (’22) was presented with his award and a $10,000 Scholarship as the recipient of the “Dr. Willima S. Kramer Award of Excellence” in 2021.

Drs. Nicole Czajka, Michael DePaolo, Zachary Goldstein and Tiffany Yau were recognized as alumni members from the Class of 2020.

Drs. Daniel M. Chenman, Ely M. Kaplan and Priya N. Shah were recognized as alumni members from the Class of 2021.
