OKU-Omega Omega Scholarship Foundation Recipient
Dr. Sonia Gordano, Class of 2003, was the recipient of the OKU-Omega Omega Scholarship Foundation’s first $10,000 scholarship. At the completion of her second year at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (predecessor to Rutgers School of Dental Medicine), she was selected based upon academic excellence, exemplary traits of character and the potential promise for future professional growth and attainment. “Our foundation was established to promote and honor academic and professional achievement at New Jersey Dental School,” explains Dr. Joel Pascuzzi, then-president of the organization. “Sonia’s accomplishments certainly exemplify the tenets of our organization.”
The OKU-Omega Omega Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit public foundation established in 1999 by Omega Omega Chapter. The OKU-Omega Omega Scholarship Foundation’s $10,000 scholarship is now an annual award at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine.
“I have worked very hard these past two and a half years in dental school and it is so uplifting to be awarded for it. I certainly will never forget your generosity as I hope to one day be in a position to do the same for others,” said the soon-to-be Dr. Giordano upon being presented with her scholarship.
