A 6:00 am wake up call insures that the Badlands 6 arrive at the Pine Ridge Indian Health Service Hospital promptly by 8:00 am. The dental unit is under the command of Dr. Jose Rodriguez, Captain, US Public Health Service. Our morning is one of orientation and familiarization. After a hardy lunch, the adventure begins. Our patients include members of the Native American population that live on the Pine Ridge reservation. The staff has made sure that patients have been appointed for our students. And each and everyone is enthusiastic and ready to work. Each patient is asked to sign a consent to allow treament by a dental student. We were pleased to be so well received by the Native Americans at Pine Ridge.
