On May 4, 2023 the Omega Omega Chapter-OMICRON KAPPA UPSILON, the National Dental Honor Society, held its Annual Awards Dinner at the Montclair Golf Club in West Orange, NJ.

New members were inducted and chapter president, Dr. Valerie Rico, presented awards. Mr. George Soliman (’24) was this year’s recipient of a $10,000 scholarship from the OKU-Omega Omega Scholarship Foundation and the recipient of the Supreme Chapter’s “Dr. William S. Kramer Award of Excellence”.

A “Certificate of Academic Excellence” was presented to Mr. Matthew Cabana (’26) and Mr. Matthew Amador (’25) for having attained the highest GPA in their respective class. Each received a $1,000 award from the OKU-Omega Omega Scholarship Foundation.

Although not present at the dinner, Ms. Alekhya Thota (’25) was presented with the “Dr. Anthony R. Volpe Excellence in Research Award” for her demonstration of outstanding research activity in the dental or biomedical science fields as a pre-doctoral dental student. She received a $1,000 award from the OKU-Omega Omega Scholarship Foundation

Dr. Rosa Chaviano-Moran was recognized with faculty membership for outstanding contributions to the arts, science or literature of dentistry.
